Not to be left out, local Republicans also weighed in on the War Claims issue by signaling their support for Congressman San Nicolas' Bill.
The five GOP senators signed off on a letter to Congressman Rob Bishop, the ranking member of the House Committee on Natural Resources which will hear the measure tomorrow in Washington, D.C. Making the announcement were GOP chairman Jerry Crisostomo, and Minority Leader Sen. Wil Castro.
"Together with the Republican caucus here at the legislature and the Republican Party of Guam, we are supporting a unanimous consent call amongst the Republican members of that committee to get this HR1365 moving out of the house," Crisostomo said.
"I'm speaking for myself, but anytime you have an opportunity to bring closure to war reparations that's something I can stand behind," Castro said. "But the Republican party is here to say basically we've been united since day one, thanks to the national committeeman in establishing that dialogue with the members of the house. And so the chairman's taken the initiative to pull us all together. So we stand united as a party."
The unanimous consent call the local party is asking from congressional Republicans would be to set aside procedures that would expedite the proceedings in the San Nicolas bill mark-up hearing.
