First celebrated back in 1970, this year marks the 49th anniversary of National Earth Month.
And on Monday, Gov. Lou Guerrero and Lt. Gov. Joshua Tenorio put pen to paper proclaiming the month of April- Guam Earth Month. Sen. Sabina Perez who has oversight of the Committee on Environment, explains why it's such an important month.
"As we know its earth month...where we re-dedicate our commitment and attention to protect our environment which sustains us," she said. "With globalization and economies and the industrialization of our earth, based on the premise that nature's reserve is limitless."
She challenged all in the room and the wider community to re-think how we do things and teach our children what ways we can truly sustain our island.
