National Condom Day encourages safe sex education

"No Glove, No Love"
That's the motto Dulce Mendoza practices in her own life. On Feb. 13, the CDC Public Health associate was passing out free condoms at the University of Guam for National Condom Day.
Mendoza said Guam ranks high in sexually transmitted diseases, like Chlamydia.
"We are 5th in the nation including the 50 states," she said.
A high number of STDs on the island is why she encourages parents to talk to their kids about safe-sex practices.
"So just because you're talking to your child about safe sex practices doesn't mean that you're permitting your child to have sex," Mendoza said. "You're just educating them how to protect themselves. You meet somebody things happen, you should always have protection on your side."
The Department of Public Health and social services also provides free testing and provides education to prevent STDs.
