Today, Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero donned a hospital cloak as she prepared for a tour of Guam Memorial Hospital. Leon Guerrero is also a nurse by profession.

She recently announced that the Medicare base rate was adjusted so GMH will now receive an additional $6 million a year in reimbursements.

The governor told a crowd of hospital employees that there’s no need for a dedicated funding source for GMH.

"If we need to fund the hospital we will fund the hospital,” Leon Guerrero said.

She added that she's eying increased tax collections as the source for the $30 million annual budget shortfall.
