It's the first time we are seeing former police officer Mark Torre, Jr. back in the courthouse since his sentencing more than a year ago. Torre, who was sentenced to serve eight years in prison for the 2015 shooting death of fellow officer Elbert Piolo, was in Supreme Court today.
It's there we learned defense is objecting to Justice Robert Torres sitting on the panel for Torre's appeal. Court filings state, Justice Torres is affiliated with Domino Lux International Fraternity. Piolo was also a member of the brotherhood.
Torre remains under house arrest pending his appeal of the negligent homicide conviction. The objection will be discussed during oral arguments set for November 1 at 10am.
