The Guam Regional Medical City's Pediatric Unit will re-open on Sunday, August 7. As you may recall KUAM News reported that the pediatric unit shut down on July 14 due to a nursing shortage and an alleged incident at GRMC in which three nurses resigned amid reports that several nurses left the ward unattended.
According to chief human resources officer Charlotte Huntsman they have successfully recruited more than 25 new nurses over the past 3 months. They are a combination of traveling nurses, local hires and recruits from the mainland. Director of nursing Kathleen Ho says more nurses will take the floor in other units once they have completed their on-boarding requirements.
