Guam - The A.B. Won Pat International Airport Authority is one step closer to the opening of its full runway for operations. Today the Federal Aviation Administration awarded GIAA over $816,000 in federal funding for the rehabilitation of Runway 6l/24r. The federal funding is reimbursement for work completed on the primary runway which was extended up to a 12,000 linear foot runway. Airport executive manager Chuck Ada says having the full runway for operations is key to the airport's ability to meet the demands of the future and attract new business that will economically benefit the island. The runway is expected to be operational by this summer.
