Guam - The Guam Symphony will be hosting its annual young artist competition featuring 32 of our island's talented musicians. "It gives them an opportunity to have a friendly competition and just to share with people their love for music and their talent. This year we actually have 32 competitors; that's actually quite a lot and our youngest this year is in the second grade," explained coordinator Catherine Bungabong.
The 32 young artists between the ages of 6 and 18 will demonstrate their talents of voice, piano, strings, woodwinds and brass.
They will perform one complete movement of a work in the elementary, junior and senior divisions. Winners from each division will be featured soloists at the Young Artist Award Winners Concert on Sunday, February 15. The young artist competition will take place Wednesday, January 28th and Thursday, January 29th at the University of Guam Fine Arts Auditorium at 7 pm.
