Guam - Defense in the Francis Taitano rape trial kicked off their case in chief with testimony from Taitano's stepson, Vincent Bamba.

Bamba lived with Taitano during the alleged rape and doesn't recall the minor victim sleeping over on a school night.

Bamba stated that the Yigo apartment was small and that if the sliding door in his stepfather's room was opened to go to the patio, "You can really hear it. It's like metal to metal grinding."

Taitano stands trial for an alleged rape that occurred almost seven years ago. The victim reported she was sleeping in the same bed as Taitano and his wife when he allegedly woke her up in the middle of the night, called her to the patio, and forced her to touch his privates. The victim states he called her back into the room and raped her in the bed while his wife was asleep next to them.

Bamba added that his mother is a light sleeper. The defense will continue its case on Tuesday.
