Guam - The trial of 61-year-old Francis Jude Taitano continued today with testimony from the defendant's wife, Kathy Taitano. Kathy was reportedly sleeping in the same room the night the victim alleges Taitano raped her.
"My husband is innocent," she asserted. "This is a man who comes home from work. We rest for 30 minutes. He'll get up and read his book. I'll do my cooking for the family. That was our routine - just work and home."
Taitano is accused of raping a female minor almost seven years ago when she slept at his house.
The minor reported that Taitano was drunk, called her out to the patio adjacent to the bedroom where he allegedly began sexual advances on her. He then allegedly called her back into the bedroom and raped her while his wife lay sleeping in the same bed.
Trial will resume on Thursday.
