Guam - The island's prison conditions will be the topic of discussion at roundtable this week.
Upon inauguration into the 33rd Guam Legislature, Senator Brant McCreadie reintroduced legislation to build a new prison facility. Last week, he invited lawmakers to see firsthand why a new prison should be top priority.
The tour and roundtable follow an audit from the OPA that shows the department of corrections has been operating at 190% over capacity and cited poor conditions and an overwhelming detainee population.
The roundtable discussion is scheduled for Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Senator McCreadie's office.
