Guam - They were out in full force over the holiday season conducting roving and stationary DUI checkpoints and if you were traveling on any of the island's major roadways today, you may have seen them again.

With the weekend around the corner, GPD Officer Jose White says Guam Highway Patrol was out today to remind residents to drive safe.

"We're basically reminding everyone to buckle up, don't use your cell phone and drive, and just drive safe - a reminder that we all share the roads," he said.

Although only two weeks into 2015, White notes that already the island has seen one traffic related fatality involving a motorcyclist who collided with a wild pig, lost control of his bike, and died from his injuries.

Starting this weekend and through the month of January, GPD will host DUI checkpoints on Saturdays through Sundays from six pm to six am on all major roadways.
