Guam - The Department of Education will be providing each public high school with $5,000 to help offset expenses for their respective commencement activities. Superintendent Jon Fernandez made the announcement today following a meeting with Tiyan High School students.
The high school opened this year, so students were behind in fundraising efforts. This marks the second consecutive year the superintendent has identified money to help graduating classes. Fernandez says it's his intent to help relieve the students of the stress and effort on fundraising so they can focus on their studies.
