Guam - The Civil Service Commission has filed a report with the Guam Police Department regarding the recent controversy involving its former conflicts counsel, Attorney Vanessa Williams and her alleged connection with fired port authority marketing manager Bernadette Meno.
Meno had mentioned Williams as being present at a meeting in which allegations of fraud were raised regarding a cooler that allegedly contained pre-marked ballots during the November general election.
The CSC is concerned about the connection between Meno and Williams because Meno has a case before their agency. Meno was one of several port employees that were terminated for alleged misconduct. During last night's board meeting CSC executive director Tony Lamorena informed commissioners that a report was filed with police.
"So currently the Guam Police Department is conducting an investigation into official misconduct and impeding government operations once we get the results of that investigation from there we can address where we can go moving forward if the police finds there were wrongdoing then you guys can decide if we move forward now with a formal ethics complaint with the Guam Bar or with the ethics committee and or if there's nothing no violation then we put closure to the matter but I think as the CSC we need to move this thing to finality 400 and come down to the bottom of what's really happening in this situation," he said.
The CSC's new staff attorney John Nowakowski meanwhile did advise commissioners that the Port Authority, if it has evidence, could file an ethics complaint on its own.
