December proclaimed Impaired Driving Prevention Month

Guam - Impaired driving is one of America's most common and deadliest crime, and today before several stakeholders, Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio proclaimed December as Impaired Driving Prevention Month.
Department of Public Works director Carl Dominguez read part of today's proclamation, announcing, "Of the 18 fatalities in 2013, 11 of those or approximately 61% were alcohol related the only defense we have to combat drunk and drugged driving is through aggressive education and enforcement though the holiday season is traditionally a time for celebration, it can also be a dangerous time gatherings and parties sometimes lead to impaired driving- a safety hazard for everybody on the road."
Partners in highway safety were all present during today's signing and will be participating in the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" annual campaign set for December 12 to January 1. These partners remind the public that there will be zero tolerance dui enforcement checkpoints.
