Guam - Treat yourself to a Christmas tradition at the Hyatt Regency Guam Gingerbread House. Every year the Hyatt celebrates the housewarming of its life-sized gingerbread house created by award-winning pastry chef Suharto. The house is 12' tall, made of 400 bricks of real gingerbread and 800 pounds of royal icing.
Public relations manager Shasta Cejoco told KUAM News, "We started our tradition in 2011 so each year we have our annul gingerbread house warming as a way to welcome the Christmas season we also have a way that we can unlock the magic of Christmas so we'll have the Make A Wish foundation wish kids here, they're going to help us unlock with a giant key."
Cejoco says hotel mangers put everything on the table when it comes to the holiday show, with the opening featuring performances by some of Guam's finest artists. Cejoco added, "We're going to open with the Guam Territorial Band Sax Quartet so we'll have a nice smooth opening, we'll also have Fusion Dance Center's children ballet group they're going to do the Sugar Plum Tree and we're also going to have of course our special guest Lt Governor Ray Tenorio, he's going to be reading a story."
While song and dance will abound during the grand opening, Cejoco reminds us that there is a deeper meaning to the Christmas season. "We have blue wish star cookies on sale beginning December 4 so the night of you can buy $5 wish star cookies and your kids can decorate the gingerbread house themselves," she explained.
All proceeds from cookie sales will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Guam.
