Guam - The Guam Ancestral Lands Commission held a special deed signing ceremony this morning for the estate of the late Joaquin Crisostomo Cruz. Over two dozen family members watched as Governor Eddie Calvo signed the deed returning the property after 60 years including Tamuning mayor Louise Rivera.
"This has been a long waited process and I finally has become fruitful with my auntie, our last saina living, we were able to get this property returned to all of us there are so many of us that go down so many generations and to know there's property available for them, they can relieve the island of being homeless and help with the economy with economic development," she explained.
The property is located in Barrigada and is measured at six hectares of land. The administration has already returned over 1,000 acres of leases and lands back to its original owners.
