Guam - Every year the Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort lights up the holidays with their signature tree lighting event.  This year however, they are also lighting up the face of one special 6-year-old child.

The Sheraton will be celebrating its annual tree lighting event tonight, in collaboration with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Executive director Victor Camacho told KUAM News, "This is about the 3rd/4th year we were pattering with Sheraton resort and what they do is they have their tree lighting, their Christmas lights and invite a wish kid to turn on the lights to do a ceremonial flipping of the switch to turn on all the Christmas lights of the resort."

This year the Sheraton is dedicating the ceremony to Taylor Marie Cruz, daughter of Jennifer and Dr. Michael Cruz. "Taylor Cruz is a first grader at St. Anthony school and she's just a very wonderful kid battling cancer, very, very smart very, very strong very loving with her family so really happy to give this gift to her," Camacho said.

Taylor's mother shared her family's story, saying, "We understand they do this every year they have a wish child come and light the tree as a matter a fact 4 years ago around this time in December our daughter what was supposed to be a routine surgery for a benign tumor turned out to be a major surgery where they removed her tumor so we're very, very happy that they do this and it's a really good thing for these kids."

Support the gift of giving tonight at the annual tree lighting ceremony, beginning at 6pm at the Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort.
