Guam - Downtown this afternoon saw another island holiday tradition, as the Salvation Army's Annual Thanksgiving Feast was held at Chamorro Village in the capitol of Hagatna. As usual, a bountiful lunch was provided to the island's less fortunate, complete with turkey, stuffing, ham, every type of trimming you can imagine, and live entertainment.
Captain Mike Lutcher told KUAM News, "[This is a] time for volunteers to come down, for businesses, schools, for other non-profits to give food and coming together. We tried to prep for 1,000 to 1,500 meals for people who are either homeless or in need or just want to come down for a meal - just to come down and gather as one big happy family."
Much of the food was donated from island businesses, with scores of helpers young and old volunteering their time to make the holiday happy for their fellow islanders.
