Guam - The opening of the new hospital has been delayed. Guam Regional Medical City was set to open before the end of the year but contractor DCK Pacific needs more time to complete construction in order to ensure quality and safety.
GRMC chief operating officer Gloria Long told KUAM News, "I don't think there's any one issue more that there are a lot of issues, there's been delay because of rain, delays in materials, finding the right labor, there's many challenges in a project of this size. In construction projects of this type, usually as you get further along, there's things as you'll see when you're building that need to get addressed, so our team has said they won't meet our December date so it will be sometime in the early time of next year that the building will be completed."
Long says GRMC will take advantage o the next few months for training staff and refining hospital policies and procedures.
