Talks continue on Guam's strategic position

Guam - The second day of the Guam Economic Symposium continued today at the Hyatt. US assistant secretary for insular affairs Esther Kia'aina spoke before regional and international business leaders today on the increasing importance of Guam in the dynamic Asia-Pacific region and the federal-Guam relationship.

She said, "Recognizing that future US prosperity and security are tied to east Asian Pacific, President Barack Obama has made a strategic commitment to rebalance US efforts and investments toward the region in this rebalance the United States has committed to a comprehensive engagement that includes emphasis on increased strain on investment and expanding broad based economic growth."

The symposium wraps Friday with site visits throughout the island including the port and the airport, scheduled networking meetings and golf.
