Vongfong's closest approach: noon Monday

Guam - According to the National Weather Service latest advisory issued at 11:00pm Saturday, Typhoon Vongfong is still heading toward the Marianas. It is packing winds now up to 75 miles per hour but it is expected to intensify. Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan are under a Typhoon Watch. Guam is also declared in COR3.
Vongfong is moving west-northwest at 16 miles per hour. Its closest point of approach is Monday around noon.
Island residents and businesses are urged to start taking necessary safety precautions such as putting up storm shelters and securing loose outdoor items.
