Guam - The Guam Police Department has been awarded over $723,000 in federal grant assistance to help create and preserve law enforcement jobs. The grant was awarded through the US Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Services Office's Cops Hiring Program. CHP as its known provides funding to address police officer needs of state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies nationwide. According to a release from Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo's office, the CHP grants go directly to law enforcement agencies to hire new or rehire career law enforcement officers in an effort to increase their community policing capacity and crime prevention efforts.
