GMH discusses financial woes
by
Guam - Following last Friday's budget hearings with the Department of Education and the Guam Memorial Hospital, Vice Speaker BJ Cruz is raising concern over funding shortfalls within those agencies despite an increase in collected revenue for this present fiscal year. Cruz says based on a BBMR report for June, General Fund revenues are tracking favorably at $3.15 million above projections. He adds GMH, for example is being "shortchanged by the administration's lack of cash disbursement." GMH administrator Joseph Verga tells KUAM the message is getting lost in that all stakeholders need to work together and "not use GMH as a political football during a political season." he says the administration has supported GMH whenever called upon adding this week GMH will actually be meeting with the governor's financial team to discuss what other additional resources can be directed to hospital.
