Guam - Lawmakers reconvened in the Committee of the Whole today during special session called by Governor Eddie Calvo earlier this week. Lawmakers are addressing Bill 1-7s that would partially fund the budgetary shortfalls within the Guam Medicaid program. Today before GMH and Public Health officials, lawmakers proferred several amendments to the bill including requiring the non-communicable disease consortium to conduct an evalution of the effects on the program funded by the bill along with allocating close to $900,000 to GMH to fund the renovation of the O-B/maternity ward. Lawmakers eventually rose from the Committee of the Whole with the recommendation to place Bill 1-7s as amended in the voting file. The bill was passed at 5:30pm with a vote of 11 yes and one no votes and two excused absences.
