Guam - Senator Ben Pangelinan, who died this morning, had oversight on land and today a confirmation hearing was held for three members of the Chamorro Land Trust Commission and one for the Department of Land Management. The hearing took place just a few hours after Pangelinan's passing.

Vice Speaker BJ Cruz, who is vice chair on the committee, said, "He has been an absolute watchdog as it relates to the commission and the Ancestral Lands Commission, and that was the first thing he wanted after appropriations was land because he believed that was integral to this community and though we may have lost him today, I think we honored him by meeting today and moving forward with this confirmation."

During the hearing, CLTC member Amanda Santos led a prayer in honor of the senator's passing.
