Guam - The official grand opening of the Liberation Carnival is scheduled for this weekend. According to Sinajana mayor Robert Hoffman who serves as the overall chair for the 70th Liberation festivities it's bigger and better.


"We are looking forward to the grand opening the official grand opening ribbon cutting this Saturday at 6pm we will have fireworks at 8 o'clock and fireworks this Sunday at 8 o'clock," he said. "So we have one wing that is just all food and sweets and treats then we have another one that is all novelties and merchandise like hats and slippers little trinkets hair pieces."


There are about 70 vendors and new activities such as the trampoline, higher zip lines and possibly an off road go cart track. At this time the carnival rides are not open due to the National Guard construction delay, but in the meantime carnival goers can enjoy the food, shopping, and carnival games.
