Guam - A congressional delegation is set to pay the island a visit in the next few days. Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo's office confirms they are making arrangements for a visit to Guam for a codel led by Congressman John Kline who represents Minnesota's Second District in the US House of Representatives. Kline serves as the chairman of the Education and Workforce Committee and is also a member on the House Armed Services Committee.
KUAM has learned that the group will consist of a 20-member delegation including chairman for the Committee on Natural Resources Representative Doc Hastings from Washington. The purpose of the visit is to conduct a fact-finding mission to the Pacific and Asia to seek global solutions to increase America's competitiveness in the classroom, workplace, and international trade market. The trip will further evaluate America's changing defense and intelligence posture in the region and seek a greater understanding of the region and its relationship to American national security, with a particular emphasis on South China Sea territorial issues. A courtesy call is set with the Guam Legislature on Monday.
