Guam - A shortfall of $22 million is anticipated for Medicaid this fiscal year according to Senator Dennis Rodriguez finding the resources to close that gap is going to be a challenge. "My biggest concern here is that we are seeing private providers now suspending or in the process of suspending services and that is just going to cause a bigger problem," he said.

Rodriguez says they are working with the Legislature and Public Health to see how they can overcome these issues adding that they if they can make local resources available they will because the federal government will provide a match. He says ultimately they will look at Medicaid and MIP patients to promote prevention early detection and intervention as data shows most patients wait until they are really sick before seeking treatment which costs more.
