Guam - If you've driven through Tamuning you've probably noticed a big change in the landscape.

Located along Marine Corps Drive the former Hong Kong Restaurant building is being demolished.

According to Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio he along with his wife Attorney Naoko Shimizu have been working on this effort as part of the Islandwide Beatufication Task Force. The process to tear down the eyesore began two years ago to track down the owner who then sold the property.

"At the end of the day we got the owner to destroy the building which they did and now we got a fresh piece of property that can be rebuilt on and that's what Luen Fong's plan was is to get rid of the eyesore and keep some of the things that are iconic to the building which is great I'm glad that you could do its kind of a bittersweet seeing that come down," he said.

According to the lt governor the demolition of the structure is the just beginning as the task force is also working on cleaning up other eyesores around the island.
