Guam - The Police in Neighborhoods Program under the Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority is finally moving forward. According to the board's legal counsel Anthony Perez the memorandum of understanding will be complete by next week. The only issue that the program faces is the participation of Guam Police Department officers. As we reported the GHURA and GPD are working to identify at least four officers who are interested in participating in the pilot program. These officers will reside in the designated GHURA neighborhoods for little to no fee in exchange for their services in deterring crime in the area. According to GHURA director Michael Duenas the pilot program may open up to reserve police as well.
