May is Guam Drug Court Month

Guam - Inline with keeping Guam safe may is proclaimed Guam Drug Courts Month in recognition of all those who work to address the island's undeniable drug problem.
According to Superior Court Presiding Judge Alberto Lamorena, drugs are the root of most if not all crimes locally. "We can't afford to incarcerate every drug person on the island but we know that we can try to rehabilitee through therapy and through people like you out there - probation officers, treatment counselors, therapists, psychologists, social workers, and all those that deal with drug addicts. You are the key to making sure that this island safe," he said.
He adds that roughly 70% of burglaries, thefts, and robberies are a result of an addict looking for cash to support their drug problem.
