Guam -
Legislation has been introduced to fund new tabulation equipment for the Guam Election Commission. Following a letter from GEC Executive Director Maria Pangelinan to lawmakers last month, Senator Rory Respicio has introduced Bill 334 that would appropriate over 134-thousand dollars from the general fund for the purchase of a ballot tabulation system. An additional 48-thousand dollars would be appropriated to purchase ballot stock and ballot programming coding services.

As we reported, it was back in March when the GEC awarded Election Systems and Software the contract to provide the island with new tabulation equipment. It was last year when the GEC’s long time vendor recommended the agency discontinue using its 20-year old machines.
