Guam - Following the discovery of black widow spiders aboard the Green Ridge vessel last week, it appears more spiders have been found at the Port Authority of Guam.
Customs and Quarantine public information officer Jonric Mendiola tells KUAM that this morning Bio-Security Task Force officers were called to the port as Port personnel had captured a spider. He says customs had delivered three species to the Department of Agriculture where entomologists had identified them as orb weaver spiders. These spiders he says are commonly found on Guam and do not pose any threat. Port general manager Joanne Brown meanwhile says she met with Customs officials yesterday on how to address invasive species and how to best respond to future cases.
