Guam - It was back in March when the Guam Fisherman's Co-Op and the Guam Economic Development Authority signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction, repair, and improvement of a new facility. Co-op president Manny Duenas says an April 25 pre-bid meeting attracted a dozen contractors however only six have picked up bid-packet as of today. While the deadline to submit bids is on June 30, interested bidders are required to submit an estimated cost of their proposal for construction. Final bids are due on June 30. Duenas says 10 to 15 days after the bids close, the co-op board will select the winning contractor. He expects construction to begin on September 1st. As we reported, the project will consist of expanding the Co-Op's size to a 20,000 square foot two-story building featuring a snack bar and a seafood restaurant.
