Guam - The Joint Guam Program Office announces Friday's release of the Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement. The SEIS provides an analysis of the proposed housing and live-fire training area and associated infrastructure to support the relocation of the substantially reduced number of U.S. Marines and dependents that were previously analyzed. According to a media release from JGPO the SEIS will include the Department of the Navy's preferred alternative which is to construct and operate a cantonment, including

family housing, at Naval Base Guam, Telecommunications Site (NBGTS)
Finegayan and a LFTRC at Andersen Air Force Base - Northwest Field
(AAFB-NWF).

Once the Draft SEIS is released it kicks off a 2-month public comment period. Public meetings are scheduled for the following dates and locations:

  • Saturday, May 17, 2014, open house from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and public
    hearing from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Okkodo High School, 660 Route 3,
    Dededo
  • Monday, May 19, 2014, open house from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and public
    hearing from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Father Dueñas Memorial School Phoenix
    Center, 119 Dueñas lane, Chalan Pago; and
  • Tuesday, May 20, 2014, open house from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and public
    hearing from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Gymnasium, Naval Base Guam (former
    McCool School) - Santa Rita Annex, Bldg. 4177, Naval Magazine Road, Santa
    Rita.

Beginning Friday you can view the Draft DEIS at  http://guambuildupeis.us. The Final SEIS is expected to be released early next year, followed by the Record of Decision later in the year.
