Guam - Dozens of children and parents joined Governor Eddie Calvo and First Lady Christine Calvo this morning in proclaiming April 6 to April 12 as the Week of the Young Child. The celebration represents the island's collective commitment to ensuring that parents, educators, professionals and leaders make efforts to give every child a strong and early start for academic success. Members from the Guam Early Learning Council, The Rigalu Foundation, the University of Guam's CEDDERS Program and Project Karinu were on hand for the signing.

Several activities are set for next week including parent workshops and training on communication, managing stress and how to help your child learn to love books. The activities are planned at the Astumbo Gym and the Agat and Sinajana Mayor's Offices.
