Pre-trial detainee found to have tuberculosis

Guam - Investigators are working to identify close contacts of a pre-trial detainee with active tuberculosis.

According to Department of Corrections director Jose San Agustin, the detainee was transferred from the Mangilao facility to the Guam Memorial Hospital on March 24th and is under the supervision of one correctional officer.

Close contacts will be required to be screened for the disease, which is spread through the air from one person to another.
