Guam - The Guam Education Board last night approved a motion to proceed to enter into collective bargaining negotiations with the Guam Federation of Teachers. According to GEB Chairman Dr. Jose Cruz all of the members of the Board have been listening to the concerns brought forth from the members of the Union each month. He added the Board has the utmost respect for all of the teachers and the Board's action last night demonstrated that. The last teacher negotiated collective bargaining agreement with the Guam Federation of teachers expired in November 2011. DOE Superintendent Jon Fernandez commented that they have a chance for a fresh start. He added "It's time to look at the challenges that we will face going forward and figure out how we are going to do what's in the best interest of the children we serve."
