Kick the Fat 5K this Saturday

Guam - The Payless Kick the Fat 5K is scheduled for this Saturday at the Paseo Stadium in Hagatna. Show time for the run is at 5:00 am with go time set for 6:00 am. Registration forms are available at Pay-Less Markets at a cost of $7.00 per person or $25.00 for a family of 4 with 2 adults max.

Co-chair Greg Calvo said, "The roads are going to be shut down around 5:00 am so we encourage the public to come out a little bit early. If you get there before 5:00 am we have a cross walk next to Chamorro Village so there is a safe way to enter into the Paseo area. We have a Zumba warm up, we will have a 2-minute firework show in the beginning, Tropic Trio Entertainment along with entertainment along the race route. Some cheer squads and that kind of things, I know you guys are going to be doing some music at the turn around also. It's the annual Kick the Fat it's our 18th year and it's a good event, it's a family oriented event. We would like to thank our platinum sponsors, Delta Airlines, Calvo Enterprise, Special K, Jones and Guerrero, TANG, Docomo Pacific, General Mills, MidPac and the Stations of KUAM."

There will be a community fair with free health screenings, displays and demonstrations held after the race.

Co-chair Kamerin Pereira added, "Our PayLess Kick the Fat 5K is known to be one of Guam's largest 5K's here. One of the things that separate us from other is our community fair. We have various vendors, eco related and health related organizations and companies that come out and promote their products and services to the community. Again this is a family event so we wanted to encourage that in every way that we can. We also have various vendors coming out sampling and giving out different things. We will also have mascots out there for the kids and they will be passing out goodies for the kids. The raffle prizes are amazing this year, we have a grand prize raffle which is a 2-minute PayLess shopping spree and then we have 2 U.S tickets from Delta Airlines for anywhere in the U.S and we also have 4 round trip tickets anywhere in Asia."

There will also be $500.00 cash given out to the school with the largest participation, top overall male and female will receive $500.00 Payless gift certificates and all the proceeds will benefit Erica's House of Hope, Sanctuary and Guma' Mami.
