Guam - The Guam Environmental Protection Agency commends Buena Vista Environmental for cleaning up 13 five-gallon containers of illegally dumped cooking oil earlier this week.

Guam EPA administrator Eric Palacios notes that such efforts protect the environmental assets of our community and for you at home, offers this advice when it comes to disposing fats, oils, and grease.

"For now just continue to collect them properly or look for locations that accept them free of charge. Guam EPA does plan to hold another recycling roundup to include hazardous household waste, used oils, both household oils and automotive oils," he said.

The recycling roundup will be announced at a later date. Palacios also notes that used cooking oil is recyclable and can be processed down for use in hybrid vehicles.
