Guam - Former corrections officer Eric Santos was unable to convince the Civil Service Commission that his former employer violated the 60-Day Rule. Santos was fired and appealed his termination. He alleged management violated his rights and denied any insubordination or physical damage to Department of Corrections property. He also denied being untruthful about work related matters.

During a hearing before the Civil Service Commission Tuesday night, DepCor's attorney Donna Lawrence defended management's actions. "This director acted immediately went to internal affairs the people were interviewed, written statements were obtained and I find it telling is that the employee supposedly writes a report to internal affairs dated April 1, but doesn't turn it in until September 4," she said.

After hearing arguments from both sides, commissioners unanimously ruled in favor of management and found Santos did not meet his burden of proof to have his termination thrown out.
