March designated Chamorro Month
Guam - Following Monday's Guam History and Chamorro Heritage Day celebrations, lawmakers presented Resolution 326 this afternoon in observance of the month of March as Gupot Mes Chamoru, or Chamorro Month.
Senator Tina Muna Barnes said, "Every day should be a celebration of Chamorros. It is who we are as an island people. We live it. We breathe it. We learn it every single day."
The resolution commends the DOE Chamorro Studies Division, Chamorro language teachers, and the Department of Chamorro Affairs for their efforts to promote and perpetuate the island's native language and culture.
