Validity of charter school in question

Guam - The council responsible for approving and overseeing the island's charter schools is slated to meet next week.
Up for discussion is a letter from Guam Education Board member Barry Mead. In his letter dating back to July 2013, Mead questions the validity of the Guahan Academy Charter School's charter, as they may not be in compliance with Guam law and statute. The end effect could be the school's inability to receive federal funds or other assistance as well as potential impacts to the Department of Education as a whole.
Also on the agenda, the Guam Academy Charter School Council will discuss the GACS 2015 budget request of $5.7 million.
The council is slated to meet on Thursday, March 6 at the Department of Chamorro Affairs conference room at noon.
