Guam - Local officials may finally be getting a grip on the out of control stay dog population.

This good news comes from Guam Animals In Need president Peggy Denny who says they're making progress on a survey to gather information relative to residents' thoughts on sterilization and other pet owner habits.

This follows a visit from the humane society of the United States and Humane Society International earlier this month who trained local officials on how to conduct the survey.

Denny reports five of the ten villages targeted to be surveyed are near completion. This includes Yigo, Barrigada, Mangilao, Sinajana and Agana Heights while the southern villages of Merizo, Yona, and Inarajan slated to start this weekend and next.
