Guam - The Department of Public Works broke ground for the Route 4, Togcha to Ipan Beach Park Project.

According to DPW director Carl Dominguez, the stretch of road has been a concern for southern residents as the slippery pavement has resulted in many car accidents including one last year in which the jaws of life was used to pull a 66-year-old woman who slammed into a power pole.

The project scope includes roadway friction course overlay, localized pavement section reconstruction, and super elevation improvement at the curve, including widening and pavement.

Motorists should note, traffic will be limited to one lane in both directions for the duration of the project, which is set for completion in July.

The $700,000 federally funded project was awarded to Nippo Corporation.
