Won Pat plans meeting on Secure Our Schools Act
Guam - Speaker Judi Won Pat tells KUAM News that she'll be holding a meeting next week with the Department of Education and the General Services Agency along with several stakeholders on how to move forward with her Secure Our Schools Act.
She says a letter has since been sent to other departments and agencies who utilize similar equipment for guidance including the Port Authority, the airport, the Department of Youth Affairs and the Department of Corrections. "So that then we can work with them, get guidance from them in terms of the some of the equipment that they've used whether it's a surveillance camera or an intrusion system, based on what they've done because these are high risk areas for these departments and agencies so we hope to have that dialogue with them," she said.
The measure provides over a million in funding for security up to seven years for the island's public schools. The meeting is set for next Thursday.
