Candidate packets ready at the end of the week

Guam - Guam Election Commission executive director Maria Pangelinan says candidate packets for the upcoming 2014 election will be available for pickup starting Friday. She says the GEC has completed updating the forms for races for governor and lieutenant governor, senator, Congress, attorney general, the Consolidated Commission on Utilities and the Guam Education Board.

Potential candidates can start filing by April 22 with the deadline by July 1st. Pangelinan meanwhile says petitions have been available with people picking up as early as November of last year. As of this morning, at least eight people have picked up petitions to either draft a candidate or to run themselves in the election.
