Guam - The Guam Homeless Coalition is looking for volunteers for its annual point in time count.

Volunteers will be responsible for hitting the streets on Friday, January 24 to survey potential clients living without a nighttime residence or living in substandard homes.

Homeless Management Informations Support Systems specialist Frank Taijeron says they're hoping to match last year's volunteer numbers at 155 but to date, only have 100 signed up to volunteer.

Volunteers will be required to attend trainings set for Tuesday or Wednesday this week at the Catholic Social Services in Barrigada.

In addition, the coalition is in need for canned good items to be distributed throughout the count.

The annual count helps the coalition garner funding from HUD as well as gathers information on what types of services are needed.

For more information on how to volunteer, call Paula Perez at Catholic Social Services at 635-1433.
