Guam - Starting next month, over 350 teacher laptops will be available for student use.

Department of Education superintendent Jon Fernandez said, "We've required teachers to use technology for the purposes of recording attendance and grades through the power school and power teacher modules. We actually provided laptops for each teacher and they had the opportunity to accept those laptops or not."

Fernandez says many teachers chose to decline the free laptops, resulting in the excess amount now available for students.

He adds laptops will be distributed to the schools once mobile carts arrive in February.

Keeping with technology, Fernandez says all schools have fully upgraded to one gigabyte and will manage bandwidth accordingly.
